Reporter- Alan Travis
Source- The Gaurdian
Date January 9th 08

This article is saying that now in the UK there are not alot of UK born working anymore from a cause of emigration and ageing population. It says that the IPPR (Institute of Public Policy Reasearch) has been talking about this and Dr. Dhananjayan Sriskandarajah said that there has been alot of talk recently about migrants taking british jobs but the evidence suggested that due to an ageing population and emigration that now the british working age has shrunk over the past year. The IPPR also stated that the between april and june 2006 and 2007 that the age population feel by 272,000 people. This
is a large number compared to number of people who are working in the UK. During the same time the total number of UK born in emplotment droped by 230,000. The IPPR studies estimated that 473 retired people to every 1,000 people of working age by 2074. This article is explaining the population increase, but decline in UK born workers in the UK.

#2 The Reavealers Blog Post

The Revealers

In the novel, The Revealers, the students of Parkland Middle felt connected through SchoolStream or as the students called it KidNet where they were able to chat or instant message. Most of you do this nightly through MSN Messenger. With KidNet and MSN nobody could break into or eavesdrop on your conversation without it being known. Not anymore. Today’s technology allows you to assume the identity of another person. Do you really know whom you are talking to in the cyber world?

It is 10:00 pm on a Wednesday night; you have finished your homework and you are chatting on MSN with three other friends. After 10 minutes two more friends ask to join the chat. By 10:30 pm five more people have joined and it is fun; however, there is a joke said about one of the people, rapidly followed by an insult. At first, no one knows how to respond, then seconds later a message pops up stating, “I didn’t say that! It isn’t me saying these things. Someone is using my name. What is going on here?”

What is the issue involved in this scenario? Why is this serious?

What would be a responsible way to handle this situation?

How could a situation like this be resolved? How would one of the three main characters from The Revealers deal with this situation?

Answer:
Well, the issue that is involved in this scenario is that the kid that is talking to a bunch of his or her friends is freaking out because there is someone that is pretending to be them, by saying rude, mean or sick things while pretending to be some one else will make other people think you are really weird, when you are not even saying anything.

Revealers 1# post

The Revealers
Blog Writing Topic

Blog response Instructions: Answer the questions in complete sentences, proper English and use examples from the novel whenever possible. Put page number after your examples. When writing comments to your peers, be respectful in your language and about their response. It is okay to disagree, but do it in a polite manner.

Blog Question: Is bullying a rite of passage of childhood and adolescence? Is it apart of the maturation process one needs to go through to reach adulthood? Explain. Mrs. Hogeboom brings up this topic on page 108.

Blog Answer:
I don't think that we NEED to go through bullying to become an Adult, but most of us do. Most of us go through bullying because it helps us through our fears and makes us emotionally stronger. The people that do get bullied which is most of us have not done anything to deserve it, and the bullies are mainly just doing it to feel better because something has happened to them. Sometimes you can get bullied for a day and other times it could be for months. Thinking about it makes me say that maybe we do have to go through bullying to become an adult but it just seems silly that we would have to do that, so maybe you do have to go through bullying to become an adult.
